Ruckomechi Camp is situated on the western side of Mana Pools National Park, 40 kilometres from Chirundu. It is overlooking the Zambezi River and is shaded by a grove of massive acacia trees. The camp is managed by Troy Williamson and a fine team of Professional Guides and camp staff. Ruckomechi has an excellent reputation for home style cooking and its friendly atmosphere - it won "Best Safari Camp" in Zimbabwe for three consecutive years, missed two and then won again in 1997!
The camp accommodates a maximum of 20 clients in 10 thatched twin chalets. The bar and the lounge are situated on the river edge, facing the Zambian escarpment.
The open-air dining room is also situated along the river's edge.
The area is well known for Lion, Wild Dog, Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo, Kudu, Zebra, Impala, Hyena and Water Buck.
The Camp also has a fully equipped Conference centre which holds a maximum of 20 people and provides audio visual equipment including overhead projector, TV and Video, slide projector, rostrum and screen. Clients are transferred to Ruckomechi first by road to Chirundu, and then by boat to Ruckomechi camp itself.
