A  right royal welcome awaits every guest at the Palace of the Lost City in Sun City. Behind a fountain of bronze buck, caught in mid-leap as they free the outstretched claws of cheetah, lies a soaring, reception atrium with a hand-frescoed dome, six storey high.  Faux stone columns of bamboo rest on elephant's feet, painted leopards peer through foliage above the hand carved chairs and magnificently laid tables at the Villa del Palazzo.

The 338 air-conditioned, spacious and beautifully appointed rooms in the Palace have all the sophisticated luxuries of today, from private safes to mini-bars. There are 19 different room configurations and some of the suites, with their al fresco spas and glass-walled, marble-floored bathrooms, provide spectacular views while one relaxes in the shooting water. The Grand Pool, overlooked by an ancient baobab forest, is reserved for hotel guests and the young ones have their own, safe, shallow water.
